About Us

The National Hydrogen Union (National Union for the Development of Hydrogen Energy) is an independent platform that brings together key industry stakeholders to coordinate efforts, exchange knowledge, and develop strategic solutions. The Union plays a pivotal role in shaping a unified hydrogen energy ecosystem by fostering collaboration among science, industry, and business.

Serving as a center of competence, the Union provides expert and analytical support to market participants. Our core activities focus on enabling the development of full-cycle technological solutions — from hydrogen production to its transportation, storage, and use in energy, industry, and transport sectors. Special emphasis is placed on regulatory frameworks, safety, and the integration of hydrogen technologies into existing infrastructure.

The National Hydrogen Union plays a key role in consolidating technological initiatives, accelerating the deployment of domestic innovations, and removing barriers to industrial-scale hydrogen solutions. Through close cooperation with government bodies, research institutions, and industrial enterprises, we aim to ensure technological sovereignty, reduce dependence on imported technologies, and build a competitive hydrogen industry in Russia.

Amid the global energy transition, we strive to develop an efficient, sustainable, and safe technological environment where innovative solutions can seamlessly move from research and development to commercial implementation.

Our work includes developing the professional community, advancing educational initiatives, engaging in international scientific and technical partnerships, and contributing to the creation of industry standards and unified technical requirements. We foster conditions for investment-attractive projects and the growth of domestic demand for hydrogen technologies.

The Union serves as a space for dialogue among technology developers, industrial players, public authorities, and the expert community. Through joint efforts, we contribute to Russia’s transition toward technological leadership in hydrogen energy and the formation of a new industrial paradigm that meets the challenges of the 21st century.

Our Mission

To consolidate the efforts of science, industry, and business to build an advanced hydrogen energy sector based on innovation, high safety standards, and the principles of sustainable development. Our key objectives include promoting scientific research, deploying efficient full-cycle technologies, and developing the industry’s human capital.

We view the development of network-based collaboration, the support of best technological and scientific practices, and the expansion of international cooperation as essential mechanisms for accelerating innovation.

We strive to make hydrogen not only a part of the energy mix, but also a catalyst for technological transformation across industry, transport, and utilities.
Achieving this requires a systemic approach: building a strong scientific and educational foundation, supporting engineering centers and pilot projects, and creating mechanisms to stimulate demand for hydrogen solutions.

Our mission also encompasses institutional development — fostering new forms of cross-industry and interregional cooperation to enable the hydrogen sector to grow in a sustainable and coordinated manner.

Our Goals

To establish an effective system of collaboration among hydrogen energy stakeholders — enabling strategic decision-making, regulatory development, and the integration of Russian technologies into the global energy system.

To create favorable conditions for consolidating scientific research, technological initiatives, and industrial projects, thereby supporting the development of a globally competitive hydrogen economy.

To strengthen Russia’s position in the global hydrogen industry by ensuring technological independence and enhancing the sector’s investment appeal.

Our key goals include:

  • developing platforms for industry dialogue and joint projects;
  • supporting startups in the hydrogen technology sector;
  • encouraging the localization of critical component manufacturing;
  • establishing a robust system for certification and standardization;
  • promoting Russian hydrogen technologies in international markets;
  • expanding educational programs and advancing workforce qualifications for the hydrogen industry.

We see hydrogen energy as a strategic pillar of national industrial policy and a powerful tool for reducing dependence on foreign technologies and equipment.

The Union is building a collaborative infrastructure that enables Russian research, engineering, and industrial expertise to cooperate and scale.
We place special emphasis on localizing critical technologies, developing a new generation of engineers, and shaping the standards and regulatory framework necessary for a reliable domestic hydrogen market.

We are confident that achieving these goals will allow Russia to secure a strong position among the leaders of the global energy transition and become a key supplier of high-tech hydrogen-based solutions.

We are open to cooperation with companies, academic and research institutions, government bodies, and international partners. Only by joining forces can we not only meet the challenges of our time — but lead the way, shaping the global hydrogen agenda.

Join us — together, we are building Russia’s hydrogen future!
